Scrip™ is operated by Iterbene Holdings Ltd (“Scrip”, “we”, “us”, “our”), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16009519, registered office 134 Durham Road, London SW20 0DG). We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the Scrip app, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have. If you have any questions, email us at hello@madewithscrip.com.
What Scrip is
Scrip is a text‑only app for keeping short “memory prompts” — a few words that bring a memory back. You group them into Scrips, and you can share a Scrip with people you invite. Scrip does not use your photos or your camera.
When you first create an account, we add a single example Scrip to your account — a sample trip with a few placeholder prompts — so you have something to explore straight away. It belongs only to you, it is not shared with anyone, and it contains only example text we provide (not your personal data). You can edit or delete it like any other Scrip.
1. Information we collect
- Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address (used to sign you in via a magic link, or through Google sign‑in if you choose it), your name, and a chosen @handle. You may optionally add a display name.
- Your content. The Scrips you create — their titles, dates, locations, section labels, and the short text prompts you write. If you share a Scrip, this content is visible to the people you invite to it.
- Sharing information. Records of who you have invited to a Scrip and who you contribute alongside.
- Diagnostic data. To keep the app stable we collect crash reports and error logs, which can include your device model, operating‑system version, app version, and technical details about the error.
- Usage data. To understand how the app is used and improve it, we collect anonymous, aggregate analytics about in-app actions, for example that a Scrip was created or an invite was sent. This is event data only; it never includes the text of your prompts or the content of your Scrips, and it is stored in our own systems, not shared with any advertising or analytics broker.
- Information you send us. If you email us feedback from within the app, your message includes basic technical context (app version, device model, operating‑system version) to help us assist you.
- Waitlist information. If you register interest in an upcoming feature (for example, tapping “Notify me” on Print a Scrip), we record that interest, any options you select, and your account, so we can let you know if it becomes available.
We do not collect your photos, your contacts, your precise location, or advertising identifiers. Scrip contains no third‑party advertising and no advertising trackers.
2. How we use your information
- To provide and operate Scrip — to create, store, sync and share your Scrips. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
- To keep the service secure, stable and working, including diagnostics and preventing misuse. Legal basis: our legitimate interests.
- To understand usage and improve the app, using anonymous, aggregate analytics. Legal basis: our legitimate interests.
- To respond to you when you contact us. Legal basis: our legitimate interests and/or our contract with you.
- To let you know about features you have registered interest in. Legal basis: our legitimate interests.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
3. Memory reminders
If you turn on memory reminders, they are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device. We do not send push notifications from our servers, and we do not collect a notification token.
4. Service providers and sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We use a small number of trusted providers (“processors”) to run Scrip, each acting on our instructions:
- Supabase — database, authentication and storage hosting (data hosted in the European Union).
- Sentry — crash and error monitoring (EU region).
- Apple — app distribution, TestFlight, and Sign in with Apple where applicable.
- Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Expo / EAS — app builds and over‑the‑air app updates.
- Vercel — hosting for our public invite links.
We may also disclose personal data where we are required to do so by law.
5. Where your data is stored
Your account and your Scrip content are hosted in the European Union. Some providers (for example, Apple and Google) may process limited data in other countries. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK/EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. How long we keep your information
We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active.
When you delete your account from within the app:
- the Scrips you own are permanently deleted, including memories that other people added to them;
- you are removed from any Scrips you joined, and your contributions to them are detached from your account (the text remains in those Scrips but is no longer linked to you);
- your profile and your sign‑in account are deleted; and
- your waitlist entries are deleted.
Diagnostic logs are retained only for a limited period for security and stability, after which they are deleted or anonymised.
7. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. You can delete your account and its data at any time from within the app. To exercise any other right, email hello@madewithscrip.com.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
8. Children
Scrip is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit and with access controls designed so that only you and the people you invite can see your Scrips. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version here and update the “Last updated” date above.
